1. Every member of the family take on less shower per week, and limit each shower to 5 minutes. How to substitute for a shower? a. fill sink with water and wash with wash rag. b. (summertime) take a swim in your pond, or a neighbor's pond

2. Rinse sink dishes after all dishes are washed, or turn down the rinse flow to a trickle when rinsing dishes.

3. Never use outside hose without an on/off valve at the end of the hose. This will keep the hose from running between waterings, and other hosing chores.

4. Repair all drips and leaks in plumbing fixtures (toilets, sinks, washing machines) at least 2 times per year.

5. Take yourselves and your children backpacking/wilderness camping. Why? You soon realize that unless you conserve water, it means more trips to the creek or lake. Therefore one soon learns to use water as sparingly as possible.

Jed Diamond – Willits: 6/19/07

We collect rain water run off from the roof of our house into 3,000 gallon tanks which we use to water the garden. We also have a number of large tanks that we collect rain water in directly.

Carlin Diamond – Willits: 6/19/07

We have had PVC pipe attached to the gutters of our house that drain into two 3,000 gallon tanks for about 7 years. A normal winter rain will fill both tanks. I pump out the water to our garden with a 12V pump.
