Project Teams
Localizing the economy of Willits is the process of changing the way we live. Our buying habits, our consumption of water, food, clothing, tools, energy, building materials, household items, land, and everything else need to be considered and modified. How we each earn our living, what we produce here in Willits, what we cannot produce in Willits, what we use as a unit of exchange, how we interact with the environment we live in and depend on, how we interact with each other, and what we will do if the worst possiblities come true are all issues for which we need to plan and act.
Matrix
This matrix show's WELL's estimation of how far we have come. We still have a long way to go and we will update this matrix from time to time as we start other projects or become aware of projects that have been started by others.
As WELL's basic strategy is to partner with existing organizations, encouraging and facilitating the projects they are already pursing, we are not making a large distinction between WELL projects and those by other organizations in the community. Willits Actions Group (WAG), Willits Ecology Center (WEC), Little Lake Grange #270, Willits Kids Club, Renewable Energy Development Institute (REDI), Mendocino County Energy Work Group (EWG), the City of Willits, Sherwood Valley Band of Pomos, and many other organizations and individuals are making all of this happen. WELL has contributed funds, volunteers, and other assistance to many of these programs. WELL started some of them and administered a few. The meaning of this matrix should be interpreted as being a list of what we, as a community, have done and are doing.
